The Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations became law in the United Kingdom in May 2009. The aim of the Regulations is to reduce the impact that waste batteries are having on the environment.
All batteries and their packaging are now marked with a "crossed-out wheeled bin" symbol to highlight that they should be recycled and not be thrown away with household waste.
A network of dedicated battery collection points has been set up to offer consumers’ easy access to recycling boxes where they can take their waste batteries to ensure they will be collected and recycled appropriately.
To find your nearest Battery Recycling collection point, visit NEXT Stores or www.recycle-more.co.uk and have your postcode ready to enter into its battery recycling point locator.
